The Monarch Award is designed for students in grades K-3. The award is named in honor of the beautiful butterfly that is the Illinois state insect. The name was also chosen because like a butterfly, children symbolize the growth, change, and freedom that emerging readers experience.
The list of nominees contains 20 books, and students must read at least 5 to vote for their favorite by March 15.
