National English Honor Society

The purpose of this organization is to recognize on a national level those who, on the basis of academic grades and performance, merit special note for past and current accomplishment in the study of English.  NEHS also encourages development of literature, fine writing, language and media studies, and it encourages members to use their talents in the service of others.

Requirements

  • Students must have completed a minimum of three semesters of English at Geneva High School or the equivalent at another high school. 
  • Student must have attained a cumulative average of 3.6 GPA (on a four-point scale) in English coursework and a 3.0 overall grade-point average.
  • Students may apply beginning the second semester of sophomore year.
  • Students must pay a $30 membership fee.
  • Students must attend the induction ceremony to become a member. 
  • Members are expected to attend a minimum of four meetings per year and participate in at least one service project to meet graduation recognition requirements. 
  • Students may lose their membership if they are no longer enrolled in an English course, or do not maintain their active participation and commitment to the organization.

  • Application Deadline:  Thursday, March 17, 2022
  • Drop Off Location:  Main Office
  • Induction Ceremony:  Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 7:00 PM
