GHS Algebra I Team Earns 5th in State

The GHS Algebra I Team placed 5th in the ICTM State Math Competition held on Saturday, May 6 at the University of Illinois. 

 
Geneva Teacher Named 2017 Kane County Educator of the Year!
Geneva Middle School South Science Teacher, Matt Gain, was named 2017 Kane County Educator of the Year by the Kane County Regional Office of Education. Mr. Gain has taught Chemistry at GMSS for 16 years.  He was selected for his leadership and superior ability to inspire the love of learning in students of all backgrounds and abilities.  
GTV Students Win Competition, Represent U.S. at Russian Film Festival

A team of four Geneva Community High School students traveled to Russia to participate in the US-Russia Youth TV Bridge, an international platform for increasing cooperation between US and Russian youth through collaborative video production.
 
Geneva Girls Basketball Team Wins 2017 State Championship!

The Geneva Girls Basketball Team won the 2017 Class 4A State Championship! This is the program's first-ever state title! Coach Sarah Meadows led her team through an incredible season, culminating in this history-making victory. 
 
Principal Rogers Named 2017 "Outstanding Administrator" by AATF

The American Association of Teachers of French (AAFT) named Geneva High School principal Tom Rogers as the 2017 “Outstanding Administrator” for his long-time support of the World Languages program at GHS. Because of this honor, the AAFT will award one GHS language student a two-week stay at the prestigious Concordia Language Villages summer camp. Pictured with Mr. Rogers is Emma Pietsch, recipient of the Concordia scholarship.
 
GHS Music Students Placed in Honors-Level Ensembles at IMEA All-State Conference

GHS Music students did a fantastic job representing Geneva at the Illinois Music Educators Association All-State Conference and Festival last week!

Not only did our students audition successfully for the District-level ILMEA festival last November, but their scores were so exemplary that they were selected for the All-state festival this weekend. Furthermore, as a result of subsequent auditions in Peoria, ALL of our Geneva students were placed in the HONORS level ensembles, which are the highest-level groups at the festival.

 
Geneva's 8th Grade Choir Selected to Perform at ILMEA

The combined Eighth Grade Choir from the Geneva middle schools is one of only a few middle school choirs statewide that was selected to perform at the 2017 ILMEA (Illinois Music Educators Association) annual conference on January 27.

 
Geneva Varsity Dance Team Wins Fourth Consecutive State Title

The GHS Varsity Dance Team earned their fourth consecutive IHSA State Dance Championship held at Illinois State University January 27-28, 2017. This year’s win was especially impressive since the team did not have any senior dancers. Go Vikings!

 
Geneva 5th Graders Outwit Math Olympiad

Ms. Villwock’s 5th grade Advanced/Enrichment students at Heartland Elementary School participate in a national math competition called Math Olympiad. This year, when working on follow-up problems, they confidently solved a problem, but their answer did not match the answer provided. The students told Ms. Villwock that they disagreed with the answer and explained their thinking.
 
Geneva Middle School South Places 1st in the Nation in WordMasters Challenge

A team representing Geneva Middle School South achieved Highest Honors in the recent WordMasters Challenge™—a national vocabulary competition involving nearly 150,000 students annually. The seventh grade team scored an impressive 193 points out of a possible 200 in the first of three meets this year, placing first in the nation!
 
Geneva Middle School North Achieves Highest Honors in WordMasters Challenge

A team representing Geneva Middle School North achieved Highest Honors in the recent WordMasters Challenge™—a national vocabulary competition involving nearly 150,000 students annually. The eighth grade team scored an impressive 189 points out of a possible 200 in the first of three meets this year, placing fifth in the nation.
