Community Service Projects


There are many reasons I am proud to be the Principal of Western Avenue School – students who are courteous, polite, and excel in so many different ways; wonderfully supportive parents; a staff who work tirelessly to ensure that our students’ needs are met. All of these things and many more give me pride when I think of what I have become a part of these past 5 years.

One of the things makes me really proud is our grade level community service projects run by our PTO WAS Kids Care Committee.

Why?

Because I said so!” That was the answer I would get as a child when I would ask my parents WHY I had to do something. Admittedly, I knew the reasons. Doing chores or cleaning up after myself was going to teach me to be responsible. I guess asking the question was my way of communicating that I was not ready to be responsible. But I will also tell you that I was the type of kid who always wanted to know WHY?
