The Clark County Board of Education is interviewing four candidates to become the county's new school superintendent.

Board members have scheduled a meeting for June 6, and could name a new superintendent then, board chairman Michael Kuduk said.

The four candidates are Paul Christy, director of district operations for the Clark County Public Schools; Mike Stacy, chief academic officer for the Woodford County Public Schools; Lisa Stone, director of school improvement for the Montgomery County Public Schools; and Sam Watkins, education recovery leader for the Kentucky Department of Education.

Interviews and community meetings with each of the four candidates began Wednesday and will continue into next week.

More than 30 people applied to succeed Clark County Superintendent Elaine Farris, who is retiring.
