The library puzzle of the week winner is Tommy Maynard. Congratulations Tommy; you can pick up your prize in the library.

 

Students, if you have still been collecting box tops, be sure to bring them in by May 25th to qualify for the drawing. If you collect 25 or more box tops, you’ll be entered into a drawing for a $25 Goodrich Randall 15 movie gift card. If you bring in at least one box top, you’ll be entered into a drawing for a $5 Goodrich Randall 15 movie gift card. Remember, Soup labels and expired box tops don’t count.

Have you read at least one Rebecca Caudill nominated book featured in the library? If you have, the Book Battle needs you! On Tuesday May 15th, South will battle North in a trivia contest and the winning team gets the coveted Book Battle trophy! South won the trophy last year so, let’s keep the trophy where it belongs! Pick up a permission slip and get more details from your Language arts teacher or Mrs. Mourek in the library. 

If you are interested in the new Origami intramural, be sure to stop by the office TODAY for a permission slip. For those of you who are not familiar, Origami is the Japanese art of folding paper into decorative shapes and figures. There are two sessions to choose from – tomorrow, May 8th and next Tuesday, May 15th - and it’s free! 

Join the GHS Twirlers! Become a part of our team, and perform at all GHS home football games and parades. No experience necessary! Come to the Clinic and Tryouts this Thursday May 10th in the West Gym here at South from 3:30 – 4:25. Batons will be provided for clinic and students will be taught how to twirl. This is a great opportunity to become a part of a high school sport, and experience the excitement of Friday night football games as a freshman! Pick up a flyer with all the information in the office.

Geneva Middle School North and South will be participating in the 13th Annual Bridge Walk to benefit the Living Well Cancer Center in Geneva. Please consider joining the team on Saturday, May 19th at Fabyan Forest Preserve for a 5K walk along the Fox River. With your support, we can make a difference in the lives of those fighting cancer, right here in our own community. If you would like to join our school team, please pick-up a permission slip in the office.

  • Art Club meets today and Writers Club tomorrow.

  • Social Studies Club’s end of the year party is tomorrow until 4:25.

From the Sports Desk:

Congratulation to the 7th grade girls track team for their first place finish at the conference meet. The team consisted of Sydney Brief, Kayla Eichstaedt, Frances Ferguson, Megan Gronberg, Ava Kruse, Abby McMillen, Hannah McMillen, Erin Slagle, Peyton Smith, Becca Spezzano, Elise Waldchen, Bella Walls and Jacquelyn Weppner. Not only did the team win their meet, but Becca Spezzano, Bella Walls, Frances Ferguson, and Erin Slagle set a new record for the 4X200 meter relay with a time of 1 minute and 58 seconds. Way to go girls!

The 8th grade girls track team set some personal records Friday night at the Conference meet. Gretchen Farrell ran the 800 and shattered her prior time. Mia McFadden and Sara Cramer placed in high jump. Kayla Stone placed in the 400 meter run and triple jump. Rebecca Riani also placed in triple jump. Late night but a great night. Looking forward to the Invitational this Friday. Good job girls.

The 8th grade boys track team concluded its conference season Friday night at Yorkville. Strong individual and team performances were punctuated by 4x200 meter team of Carter Powelson, Dan Sustersic, Maclain Happold and Jack Caston's school record breaking performance. Congratulations to all athletes on a successful season.

Music Students: Friday is a Choir day.
