Viking Alliance is a newly formed club at Geneva Middle School South that will have its first meeting after school this Friday in the Reading Lounge. Viking Alliance is a student-led club for anyone who would like to do fun activities in a supportive, inclusive and nonjudgmental atmosphere. Viking Alliance is about valuing all people no matter their cultural beliefs or their sexual orientation. If you believe in everyone’s right to be themselves, that differences make a community stronger and if you enjoy lively discussion about diversity and inclusion, then this club is for you.

Can you sing, dance, juggle, ride a unicycle?  Would you like to be an MC? Well, the Variety Show might be just for you!  Variety Show Auditions are coming up in a couple of weeks.  Be part of the most entertaining show of the year!!!  Sign up for an audition time this week in the Main Office.  Auditions will take place Monday October 29th and Tuesday October 30th. See Mr. Japlon in 7 White if you have any questions.

 

Yearbook Club’s first meeting is today in Room 113 in the 8W team center. 

 

Art Club is also meeting today after school.

 

Math Club don’t forget your next meeting is today after school at North in room 122.

 

Are you interested in creative writing?  Would you like a place to write and have the option of sharing your poems, short stories and novels?  Then Writing Club is for you!  Our next meeting is tomorrow from 3:30 – 4:20 at the GMSNorth library.  Hope to see you there!

 

Social Studies Club will be hosting the North vs. South Civil War Dodgeball battle tomorrow.  Meet in Mr. Faders room in the 8W team center. The battle ends at 4:20. 

And on Saturday, October 27th, Social Studies Club will be taking a field trip to Cantigny, a WWI museum in Wheaton where well climb on tanks and learn about trench warfare. Stop by Mr. Faders room for a permission slip.

 

Chess Club’s first match against St. Charles Thompson will be at North on Thursday.  See Mrs. Swiderski in 8W for more information.

 

Science Club, your next meeting is also on Thursday after school.

 

In honor of Red Ribbon Week this week, Student Council has some great activities planned.

First up is the food drive! Bring non-perishable food to your team center collection boxes all this week. Help stock up the food pantry at Shepherd’s Heart to help those in need feed their families. Keep an eye on the bulletin board in lobby to see which team has brought in the most food items! Also, the library will waive $1 in fines for every can of food you bring in, up to $5! Student Council and LEO’s club members, don’t forget that you will meet first thing after school this Friday to help pack all the food collected.

Second, is Spirit Week continuing tomorrow with College Wear Day! 

Wednesday is Wear Red Day, Thursday is Mix and Match Day and Friday will be our usual Geneva Spirit Day.

And last, don’t forget about Halloween Movie Night this Friday, October 26th! Meet in the library right after school.  Concessions will be sold during the movie and all proceeds will support Red Ribbon Week!  Remember, you must have a ride or take the 5:30pm activity bus home afterward.

 

All 6th grade choir members should report to the cafeteria immediately after school today for our dress rehearsal and pizza party!  Please bring all your belongings with you when you come.  Parent pickup time is at 5:00 P.M. - make sure your parents know what time to pick you up!  See you then!
