District Awarded Meritorious Budget Award
Posted: 3/12/2014
The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) has awarded Geneva School District its Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for excellence in budget presentation. This is the third time Geneva School District has submitted an application for and received this award.

To earn this award, the District submitted its 2013–2014 budget for a rigorous review based on stringent criteria. The award is conferred only to school entities that have met or exceeded the Meritorious Budget Award criteria.

“This is a prestigious award that demonstrates the excellent work of Assistant Superintendent for Business Donna Oberg, our Business Office Staff, and the work of Steve Miller of PMA,” said Superintendent Dr. Kent Mutchler. “This award represents excellence in budget presentation and reflects well on our staff and District.”

Receipt of this award “represents a significant achievement” by District staff and a commitment to “meet the highest standards of school budgeting,” according to ASBO. Only 14 districts in the State of Illinois and 130 districts internationally received this recognition for their 2013-14 budgets.

Developed by ASBO for school districts, the MBA criteria guide school business officials toward a quality school budget presentation by enhancing the school business officials’ skills in developing, analyzing, and presenting a school system budget.
