Birthdays are supposed to be incredibly happy events, but some struggling families don't have enough money to celebrate their child's special day.  SS Club is asking for your help.  Bring in cake mix, candles, balloons, frosting, or any of the items found on the box in your team center.  These bags of birthday supplies will be donated to a local food pantry.  The collection will end on Tuesday, February 20th.  Help give someone a happy birthday!

Birthday Bag Needs:

  • Gift Bag

  • Cake Mix

  • Tub of Frosting

  • Birthday Candles

  • Balloons

  • Rolls of Crepe Paper (Streamers)

  • Misc. party favors and small, new toys

Please donate only UNUSED items. Thanks.

“It takes energy to get angry. It eats you up inside. I can't waste my energy like that and expect to get ahead. When they left, it took everything I had in me just to survive. Now I have to stay focused. I've just gotta take care of it myself'-- Joe Rantz.” Could you survive if left on your own at the mere age of 15? Find out how one man did just that and even went on to win Olympic Gold in The Boys in the Boat (Young Reader’s Edition) by Daniel James Brown. Then, join our Olympic Book Club on Tuesday 3/6. See Mrs. Hollis or Mrs. Mourek for details.

Escape Room registration continues, but don’t wait to sign up – this is definitely something you don’t want to miss! Registration forms are available in the office.

Students, be sure to bring in your box tops for the February drawing! The February collection will end on February 23. If you collected 30 or more box tops, you’ll be entered into a drawing for a $20 Geneva Commons gift card. If you bring in at least one box top, you’ll be entered into a drawing for a $5 Geneva Commons gift card. Soup labels and expired box tops will not be counted.

FROM THE SPORTS DESK:

The 7th grade A team hit the accelerator button last night as the team cruised to a 20-6 victory over Batavia Gold.  Jacquelyn Weppner played her best game of the year and scored two points while Erin Slagle and Hanna Van Camp D'd it up big time.

The 7th Grade Girls' B Basketball team also put the pedal to the metal last night with a big W over Batavia Gold; final score 37-12! Natalie Buchanan did an outstanding job finishing last night, scoring a whopping 20 points. Morgan Hodgdon added 7 to the board. Ainsely Novay and Madelyn Ptak each contributed 4, and Simone Silva had a great steal and breakaway layup. The whole team played awesome.

The 8th grade girls’ basketball team went to the dog pound last night in a rematch of the Kaneland tournament championship game.  Although the Vikings had more shots and steals then Batavia, they were unable to capitalize and lost by 8.
