Students, on Monday during your lunch period you will participate in a bus evacuation drill. We encourage you to bring your lunch on Monday, if possible. On Monday, when you get to the lunch room you will drop off your lunch at your table and immediately exit the cafeteria doors to board a bus. You will eat lunch after the short drill.

Science Club’s first meeting of the year will be next Thursday, October 18th in Mr. Duber’s classroom 154 in the 7W Team Center. The kick-off topic is going to be “Long Run Marble Maze”. All those attending will need to take the 4:30 activity bus home or get a ride home.

It's Flashback Friday!  You know what that means!  It’s time to check out your favorite GMSS staff middle school pictures in the library!  Can you guess whose pictures are on display this week?

It’s SOCK-tober and Student council still needs your help! If you haven’t already brought in a new pair of socks to donate to the less fortunate in our community, there is still plenty of time.  Why not pick up a pair or two while you’re out this weekend? And don’t forget, when you drop off your donation in the library, be sure to enter the drawing to win a $20 gift card!

Music students today is a Band/Orchestra day.

If you are unsure if you have a current physical, stop into the main office to double check.

Attention all 7th and 8th grade boys’ basketball players.  7th grade tryouts will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and 8th grade tryouts will be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.  Tryouts will run until 5:20 each day.  All boys wanting to tryout must have a current sports physical on file.

Last night, your 7th grade Viking football team hosted the Yorkville Foxes in the Fox River Prairie Conference championship. The Vikings took an early 8-0 lead, when Nate Stempowski connected with Colin Sprague on a 35 yard touchdown pass. The Vikings would get another first half score from Sprague and led 16-14 at the break. In the second half, the Foxes battled back and took a brief 20-16 lead, but Sprague would score again, this time on a pass from Patrick Turner and the Vikings retook the lead 24-20. As the clock wound down, the Foxes attempted one last scoring drive, but the Viking defense, led by Charlie Winterhalter, Jacob Black, Joey Costentino and Rocco DiLeondardi held strong and the Vikings prevailed to remain undefeated, becoming the 2018 Fox River Prairie Conference Champions. Congratulations to: Zack Barnard, Jacob Black, Eli Curry, John McCormick, Sam Seykora, Tristan Spencer, Colin Sprague, Michael Torrence, Patrick Turner, and Charlie Winterhalter.

You are all hammers!
