Community Veterans Invited to Student-Led Ceremonies at Geneva Middle Schools
 

GENEVA – On Monday, Nov. 12, each of Geneva’s middle schools will hold an all-school ceremony honoring the individuals who have served our country. Students and staff have invited the veterans in their lives, and these annual ceremonies are always extremely well-attended. 

Members of the media are invited to attend these ceremonies, interview participants, and photograph the powerful events as they unfold.

What: Geneva Middle School North 22nd Annual Veterans Day Ceremony

Date: Monday, Nov. 12, 2018

Place: Geneva Middle School North Blue Gym, 1357 Viking Drive
Time: 8:30 a.m.

 

What: Geneva Middle School South 24th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony

Date: Monday, Nov. 12, 2018

Place: Geneva Middle School South Contest Gym, 1415 Viking Drive 

Time: 8:45 a.m.

Here is some additional information regarding the ceremonies: 

  •          Student involvement includes the social studies classes and clubs; performances by the eighth-grade choirs, bands, and orchestras; and numerous student speakers.
  •         Cpt. Van C. Stone, a decorated Vietnam veteran and Geneva resident, will deliver a keynote speech at GMS North addressed to both veterans and students, titled “I Am An American Veteran … And I Was There.”
  •         Veterans at GMS North are invited to submit photos ahead of the event for a photo story compilation that will be projected during the ceremony.
  •          At GMS South, veterans are invited to talk with students following the conclusion of the ceremonies during a continental breakfast in the cafeteria.
