The district was honored Sept. 14 during the professional organization’s annual Communications Contest Awards in Oak Brook.

Golden Achievement Awards are given for projects that encompass all aspects of a public engagement program, from research to planning, implementation and evaluation, according to INSPRA. Geneva received this recognition for “Drugs & Alcohol: What Geneva Parents & Community Should Know,” a community forum hosted at Geneva High School in January and for which the District spent months preparing. The second project that was recognized, “WE ARE Your Board of Education,” is an ongoing effort meant to inform and engage the public about the District’s school board.

“In Geneva 304, we believe that authentic, two-way community engagement is an essential component of a thriving school district,” Superintendent Dr. Kent Mutchler said. “We are thankful to be recognized for these projects, which are examples of how we continuously strive to communicate with our parents and our community.”

"We are proud to recognize the winners of the 2018 Communications Contest, whose outstanding work exemplifies the best in school communications throughout the state,” said INSPRA President Becky Koltz, who is Coordinator of Communications & Community Relations at Community High School District 94. “Their commitment to and talent for sharing the stories of schools, students and teachers brings communities together to support education."

The mission of INSPRA is to strengthen support for Illinois public schools and improve education for students through responsible public relations. A complete list of winners can be found at www.Inspra.org.
