Do you enjoy helping others? The Geneva Middle School LEOS Club is a school Service club that does just that. Leos members will have the opportunity to develop valuable leadership skills, make new friends and have fun by getting involved in a wide variety of community service projects. We have many projects already lined up, but we need you to make it happen.

Join the Leo’s Club next Tuesday, October 9, 2018 as we plan for Red Ribbon Week and beyond. Stop by the office for an informational flyer or see Ms. Beyer in 6 Blue for more information.

Leo’s club is already making a difference by collecting Pop Top Tabs for Ronald McDonald House Charities. Place your Pop Top Tabs in the boxes in the cafeteria, or bring them to Ms. Beyer in 6Blue. Our donations will help Ronald McDonald House, a home away from home for families of children receiving treatment from a nearby hospital.

Next week’s club meetings include Math Club on Tuesday, October 9th at South and Chess Club on Thursday, October 11th at South.

All you have to do is bring in new pairs of socks to the donation bin in the library before or after school. This event will be happening all month long and did I mention that you could win a $20 gift card? That’s right! Bring in your donations and get entered to win!

The first meeting of SS Club will be Tuesday, Oct. 9th in Mr. Fader’s room in the 8 White team center until 4:20. Bring a friend or two to help prepare for Civil War Dodgeball!

The Chicago Steel has a fall reading incentive program that will earn you a complimentary ticket to a Chicago Steel hockey game at Fox Valley Ice Arena.  Read for 20 minutes 5 days a week for 6 weeks to meet the goal.  See Mrs. Fedor in the library for details.

Congratulations to the 7th grade girls’ volleyball team on an awesome season. This team worked hard and showed a tremendous amount of improvement throughout the season. Nice job girls!

The boys’ Cross-Country team wrapped up a successful season last night at Conference. The Varsity Boys took third place overall in conference with Colin Opdyke placing 10th, Mitchell Gratz 12th and Colin Hasty 13th all being named to the all-conference team. In the JV race Geneva South took 2nd place behind Dominik Stolarik who placed 6th, Warren Cooper 10th, Brady McMillen 11th, Lorcan Duffy 12th and Ben Lutzow 18th. Congratulations to all of the boys who took part in Cross Country this year for your effort throughout the season.

Congratulations to the girls’ cross country team for a tough battle at conference last night. Katie Ketzel-Gaudette, Hannah Shreve, Alex Powers and Elizabeth Shulte had some great times and Grace Pryor was the first varsity girl finisher for the Vikings. Way to go girls!

Your 7th Grade Geneva Vikings had their last regular season game yesterday against St. Pats. St. Pats came out ready to go and moved the ball in the 1st half. However, the Vikings defense came up big with some key turnovers. Rocco Delinardi tipped a St. Pats pass that was picked off by Joey Cosentino. Nate Stempowski was ball hawking on defense all game and came up with 3 turnovers himself. Stempowski didn’t stop there; he connected with Jacob Black on a 15-yard pass to put up the first points of the game. Rocco Delinardi ran in a 2-point conversion that added to the Vikings lead. Nate also connected with Collin Sprague on 2 long passing touchdowns. I hope everyone started Nate Stempowski on their fantasy football team this week because he also caught a 2-point conversion that was thrown by Rocco Delinardi to seal the game. The 7th Grade Geneva Vikings finished the game on top with a score of 22-0 and a regular season record of 5-0. The Vikings look to continue the undefeated season with the conference championship game on Thursday the 11th of October at home. Mark your calendars and come out to support your 7th Grade Geneva Vikings on the 11th. Wear your blue and let’s pack the stands to support these young men and their journey for a perfect season. Be The Hammer!!
