Tonight,
the Geneva CUSD 304 Board of Education and the Geneva Education Association,
the union that represents our more than 450 teachers, returned to the
bargaining table at 7:00 p.m.
The Board and the union exchanged
preliminary proposals, which did not lead to an agreement. The GEA then
presented a new proposal for which the Board must analyze the financial impact.
The Board suggested another meeting tomorrow night and asked the GEA to
consider having teachers return to classrooms on Friday while the negotiations
process continues. There will be no
school on Friday, Dec. 7. The Board and the GEA agreed to meet at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 7.
