From the Sports Desk:

It has been quite the week for the Geneva South track team. A big shout out to Bella Walls against Kaneland on Tuesday for breaking the 200, winning the hurdles and placing in the 400. Frances Ferguson and Becca Spezzano were right behind Bella, both setting record breaking times. In the 4 by 800, Becca Spezzano, Elise Waldchen, Hannah McMillen and Grace Pryor continued to light the track on fire by setting the record for the 3200-meter relay.

For the 7th grade girls, Lilly Coats, Cami Bishop, Jacquelyn Caballero, and Maddie Hubbuch won the 4 by 200-meter relay, and Brooke Lussnig continued to dominate by earning first place in the 100 and 200.

Moving on to the 7th grade boys, Zack Barnard was impressive and won the mile with a time of 5:44. This is a week delayed, but an extra special shout-out to Colin Sprague for demolishing the 32-year-old 200-meter record last Thursday. Colin sprinted across the finish line in an impressive 25.12 seconds, defeating the old record set by Brian King in 1987. Colin went on to one up himself at Tuesday night's meet against Kaneland by breaking the 400-meter record with a time of 57.52.

And finally, after an impressive performance in the 400-meter last week, Paul Champoux followed it up with a terrific high jump performance at Kaneland. Colin Opdyke also did a great job in the high jump.
