The marker recycling program is back!  For everyone who is new, GMSS has a marker recycling program. So, throughout the school year, if your markers dry up, DON’T THROW THEM AWAY!  Thanks to our awesome Green Team, every team center has a collection box for those old markers.  Thanks, Green Team!

From the Sports Desk

Last night, the 8th grade Viking football team hosted  DeKalb Huntley in the opening game of the 2019 season. After falling behind early, the Viking offense roared back with a strong running game led by Charlie Winterhalter, capped by a 30 yard TD pass from Nate Stempowski to tight end Rocco DiLeonardi. Although the Vikings dominated both sides of the ball in the second half, a late rally attempt fell short and the home team fell to DeKalb by a final score of 14-6. Next up for the 8th grade team is Aurora Jewel next Tuesday, September 3rd. Come out and show your support!

The 7th grade football team took to the road last night and traveled to DeKalb to face the Junior Barbs. DeKalb proved to be too much for the Vikings as they came up on the wrong side of the win - loss column. Bryce Adams and Caden Anderson scored touchdowns for the Vikings.

The boys cross country team faced a tough Yorkville team last night and lost by a single point 29 to 28.   Out of 95 runners, Wyatt Gross placed 2nd, Grant Fischer 3rd, Dom Stolarik 4th and Chase Sorrentino 8th.  Top 6th grade runner was Henry Boraca who was 27th.  The team will have a home meet Thursday against St. Charles at Peck Farm.
