Welcome Back!

I am looking forward to working with your children again this year. Geneva 304's theme this year is We're On A Mission For Kids! As a district, we are working together to achieve common goals. We also recognize that we are all different and unique, but we are all a part of this community working side-by-side for our kids and their growth and development! We will continue to work together as a school community to emphasize and model the values and expectations of the Western We Plan. At the beginning of the school year, the staff will review with the students how to be a Western Avenue Duck by showing respect, responsibility, and integrity in all areas of the school. When you walk into the building this year, notice the framed posters on the walls throughout the building outlining our values and expectations. This is going to be a great year!

Sincerely,
Mr. Casey O'Connell, Principal

What's New for 2026-27

ParentVUE replaces Home Access Center - The new ParentVUE online system and mobile app makes it easier than ever to stay informed, engaged, and connected throughout the school year.

Report Absences in ParentVUE - Report a student's absence with ParentVUE. ParentVUE makes it easy! In fact, you can report absences up to 14 days in advance.

Elementary Students' New Lunch Ordering - Students will choose and order their lunch as they move through the lunch line. At the cashier, their meal will be served along with the appropriate fruit or vegetable and milk. The cashier will ask the student their name and charge their account accordingly.

The First Day of School

As Western Avenue has done in the past, students will gather on the back blacktop and meet their teacher before going into the building. Parents can walk their students to the back blacktop. Teachers will be outside with signs starting at 7:45. This will be the procedure on the first day only.

Coffee, Cookies & Conversation with Mr. O'Connell

Thank you for joining me at last year's event! There was a total of 32 parents who joined me at one of the three parent forums (Coffee, Cookies & Conversation with Mr. O’Connell). The purpose of these parent forums was for our parents to feel more connected to what is going on at school and understand why certain decisions were made. Parents also brought in their own questions to add to the discussion. Topics this year included: class sizes, homework, class lists decisions, after-school activities, testing and Illinois School Report Card, to name a few. We are looking to host at least two this upcoming school year. More information to come soon!

Watch D.O.G.S. Program

Watch DOGSWe will be looking for Dads, Grandpas, Uncles, Father figures/close friends of the family to volunteer their time during lunch and recess for a day this year. WATCH D.O.G.S. programs for Elementary and Secondary School campuses help provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important. Meanwhile,
“D.O.G.S” provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security, reduce bullying and provide a greater sense of campus safety, allowing students and teachers to focus on learning and instruction. Look for more information coming soon!
