Geneva School District 304 students, families, and community members are invited to attend the Cultural Fair on Friday, November 13, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Geneva Public Library, located at 227 S. Seventh St. in Geneva. The event offers an opportunity to explore and celebrate the many cultures that enrich our schools and community.

Significant hazards can be present where pedestrians, vehicles, and buses are in close proximity.  We encourage all of our visitors and families to strictly follow all the rules of the road not only on the way to school, but also when navigating through the parking lots on school property.   While speeds are often slower, the low speeds do not eliminate risk and the potential for danger still exists.

We encourage all families to take a few moments to discuss school bus safety with their children. Student safety is our highest priority. This year, the district has installed stop-arm cameras on select school buses to help address the ongoing concern of motorists illegally passing stopped buses. These cameras serve as an additional safety tool and support local law enforcement efforts to improve compliance with school bus laws.

The Geneva 304 Board of Education has been recognized by the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) for its exceptional governance practices. Geneva 304 was one of 53 Illinois school districts to earn the School Board Governance Recognition honor for their effective governance behaviors and their commitment toward obtaining the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively lead the district.    

Geneva High School is taking an exciting step toward enhancing both student learning and environmental stewardship through the development of a new Outdoor Classroom and Biodiversity Project. Led by Geneva High School teachers Tom Anderson, Emma Cole, Erin Cosky, Jason Lesatz, and landscape designer Jay Womack, the initiative will transform an underused area of campus into an engaging learning environment where students can connect with nature while supporting local ecosystems.

Following the resignation of Harrison Street School Principal Michelle Hirsch in May, Geneva CUSD 304 launched a formal search process to identify the school's next permanent leader. A dedicated interview team made up of district administrators and Harrison staff carefully reviewed applications, interviewed candidates, and considered the leadership needs of the school and its community.

Since joining Geneva School District 304 in August 2022, Special Education Teacher Cailla Swanson has become an integral part of the Geneva High School instructional community. As a learning behavior specialist and special education teacher, she teaches across a wide range of practical courses, including practical math, science, world history, health, U.S. history, government, and personal finance. She has also supported students through co-taught applied foods courses and the GHS VocEx program, both on- and off-campus, helping them build skills for independent living and future employment.

At Western Avenue School, the mascot isn’t just a symbol; it’s a living, waddling tradition. For more than 30 years, a mama duck has chosen the school’s courtyard as the perfect place to hatch her ducklings.
