Teacher leading a class

Do you enjoy working with children? Consider becoming a substitute teacher. School districts across the state are facing a shortage of subs, and Geneva District 304 is no exception. Substitute teachers play a vital role in providing our students with the best possible learning experience when their regular teacher is absent. You can help support our students by applying to be a substitute teacher in Geneva District 304.

To help ease the sub shortage, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has lessened the requirements to obtain a substitute teacher’s license.

After taking a pause during the COVID pandemic, Geneva School District 304 is seeking volunteers once again for our Volunteering with PRIDE program. The program, which stands for Proud Retirees (and other) Individuals Dedicated to Education, offers opportunities for approved community members to volunteer to assist in classrooms.

There are many ways a volunteer can help, such as with tutoring, mentoring, guest speaking, reading to students, or assisting teachers with small tasks. Volunteers can apply what they have learned from their careers, hobbies, family life, or other interests. Volunteers may choose a set schedule, or an occasional specific volunteer opportunity.
