104th Annual Crosstown Classic: Batavia HS and Geneva HS continue Competing for a Cause Tradition
On Friday, Oct. 7, Batavia and Geneva High School football fans will not only be meeting up at Batavia’s Bulldog Stadium for the 104th crosstown classic game, but they will also be wearing competing t-shirts.

Both high schools will be selling Geneva vs. Batavia “Competing for a Cause” t-shirts from now until game day. Geneva’s sales will support the TriCity Family Services and Batavia’s will support Freedom Fighter Outdoors, the Batavia Public Library Foundation, and the Batavia Foundation for Educational Excellence.

Each limited-edition t-shirt is $15. T-shirt sizes range from adult small to adult 2XL.

“We are fortunate to live in two communities that are very supportive — not only of our athletes but of our local charities as well,” said Geneva Athletic Director Matthew Hahn. “Competing for a Cause is about more than a passionate competition; it’s about acting as leaders to help others in need.”

“There is a special feeling in the air whenever our schools meet in competition. The players, coaches, and fans feel it. We capitalize on that feeling during the ‘Competition for a Cause’, and our local charities benefit from it. We are thrilled to be partnering with Geneva High School again,” said Batavia High School varsity football coach, Dennis Piron.

Where to Buy T-Shirts
The public will be able to purchase Geneva t-shirts (blue) in the GHS contest gym foyer from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5 and Thursday, Oct. 6. Students can purchase shirts during their lunch period on Thursday, Oct. 6, and Friday, Oct. 7.

“It’s amazing how the two communities come together to support such great causes while having lots of fun competing at the same time,” said John Masen, a Batavia High School student who is managing Batavia shirt sales.
