Back Together 304 Updates from Superintendent.

Back Together Superintendent Message

Aug. 28, 2020

The first day of school is almost here! To ALL of our families — regardless of whether your students will be joining us in person or online — we are so excited to welcome you back!

We would like to remind our families of the following important information:

  • The first on-site day of school for In-Person A schedule students is Monday, Aug. 31.
  • The first on-site day of school for In Person B schedule students is Tuesday, Sept. 1.
  • The first day of school for preschoolers in the Geneva Early Learning Program is Wednesday, Sept. 2.
  • All families who have selected In-Person Learning for their students must conduct a Daily Symptom Screening and provide their student with a signed form to bring to school, which is available at this link. Para español, haga clic aquí. An overview of this process is also provided at this link
  • Earlier this week, we provided families with a sneak peek of Microsoft Teams, the shared learning platform that teachers will introduce students to next week for both the in-person hybrid learning and the online-only models. I hope you have had a chance to watch the introductory videos for elementary, middle, and high school students, and am so grateful to our staff for their hard work in providing this experience to our students.
  • Families of students in grades 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, and 12: If you have not yet done so, please complete the required system updates on your student’s 1:1 device as previously communicated in this message.

We continue to monitor guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois Department of Public Health, and the Kane County Health Department, and we will remain adaptable to relevant changes. Please continue to review the Back Together 304 and Frequently Asked Questions pages for the most updated information.

I would like to thank everyone – our staff, students, parents, and community members – who have remained flexible and patient as we worked on the Back Together 304 plan for the new school year while focusing on the health & safety of our school community. It has often been said that nothing worth doing is ever easy, and education is no exception. Whatever lies ahead, we will continue to adapt, learn, and grow together. Thank you for standing together with us as we welcome our students Back Together 304

Sincerely,

Dr. Kent Mutchler

Superintendent of Schools
