I hope this message finds you and your family well during these unprecedented times. I would like to share my continued appreciation to our students, staff and families for your patience, support and hard work as we continue our journey of remote learning this week and in the days ahead.

As we shared with you last week, the Illinois State Board of Education has created recommendations for school districts about instruction, grading, content selection and delivery, and social-emotional needs. Geneva CUSD 304 has incorporated recommendations from the state into our Remote Learning Plan, which we invite you to review on our website at this link.

Additionally, our page of Frequently Asked Questions at this link summarizes the components of the plan as it relates to student learning.

Please keep in mind that by the state’s definition, remote learning is not intended to fully replace or match instruction that would usually happen in our classrooms. Remote Learning is intended to support the social emotional health of our students and continue learning opportunities.

Our district’s staff has done a tremendous amount of work in a very short amount of time, and we will continue to do our very best to educate and support our students. Thank you again for your continued grace, understanding, and partnership.

Dr. Kent Mutchler
