Back Together 304 Updates from Superintendent.

Back Together Superintendent Message

Aug. 14, 2020

This week, we welcomed our new teachers to Geneva 304, and we look forward to welcoming back our returning teachers on Monday. Next week, staff will engage in professional development opportunities and planning for our students’ return on Aug. 31. While this year will look very different than past years, it has been comforting and heartening to see so many individuals committed to making this school year a success when we are Back Together 304.

Also this week, the Board of Education heard a presentation on the Back Together 304 plan and approved updates to the 2020-21 school calendar. If you missed the opportunity to watch the live stream or participate in person, please watch the video at this link. As we have shared previously, this plan is not static, and will continue to evolve and adapt to changes in state guidance. These presentations are meant to keep the community and the Board updated on this important information.

Please note the following updates:

  • New first day of school for K-12 students on Monday, Aug. 31;

  • New first day of school for Geneva Early Learning Program preschool students on Wednesday, Sept. 2;

  • New last day of school on Friday, June 4.

Helpful links for families:

  • The updated A/B calendar for In-Person Learning can be viewed at this link

  • We have added many new answers to frequently asked questions from our community, which can be viewed at this link

We will continue to communicate with families based on the latest guidance and information, as we continue our hard work on plans for the 2020-21 school year.

In the meantime, please continue to read the latest information on the Back Together 304 page and the Frequently Asked Questions page. We greatly appreciate your continued patience, grace, flexibility, and support.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kent Mutchler

Superintendent of Schools
