This week, Geneva High School Principal Rogers and about 60 staff members volunteered to deliver Class of 2020 signs to the homes of 485 senior students. The heartfelt reactions and appreciation from those families has been overwhelming, and this is a testament to the bonds formed between educators and their students. I am proud of our graduates for their many achievements, thankful to our staff for their unwavering care, and humbled by the Geneva 304 community and their solidarity in the face of the unknown.

Dr Mutchler Reads The GIving TreeEach week, I’ve been reinforcing this year’s #LearningTogether304 theme by reading selected books for our students. This week, I have chosen "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein, because it emphasizes the importance of relationships and spending time together. The video is available at this link. Thank you for sharing these videos with your family in an effort to demonstrate the importance of reading!

Geneva Reading Summer ChallengeThis summer, Geneva 304 families will have the opportunity to continue reading together through the Geneva Public Library’s Summer Reading Challenge from June 1-July 31. The annual program offers something for everyone who signs up – kids, teens, and adults – including reading challenges, virtual events, and badges. Please learn more about how families can participate at http://gpld.readsquared.com.

While so many questions remain for the upcoming school year, I would again like to assure you that the District is considering a wide variety of approaches and developing potential plans that could be implemented based on forthcoming guidance. No matter what the 2020-21 school year brings, our District of caring and hardworking employees will remain committed to providing our students with the very best education. We will continue to communicate new developments with you. Please see our Frequently Asked Questions, which are available on our website at this link.

Thank you again for your partnership and for your continued grace and patience as we move forward through this situation together.

Dr. Kent Mutchler
Superintendent of Schools
