Back Together 304 Updates from Superintendent.

Back Together Superintendent Message

Sept. 4, 2020

This week, we reached a milestone and welcomed our students back for the 2020-21 school year.

As educators, very little compares to the anticipation and hope that accompanies a first day of school. While this year looks different in so many ways than those in the past, and we will undoubtedly face new challenges ahead, that anticipation and hope are a welcoming reminder of why we chose to serve students and our community through public education.

I would like to thank the many people who put in a great deal of work these last several days, weeks, and months so that students could return to in-person learning in an environment that prioritizes the health and safety of our school community. Every corner you turn in our schools, you will find an example of someone who has adapted in order to support our students. Our online teachers are working from their classrooms, just like their in-person colleagues, and our in-person teachers are also reinventing their practice to teach in A/B schedules. I also would like to thank our students and families who have demonstrated value, understanding, and support for our new health and safety procedures, and our School Board for their support of both learning environments and offering choice to parents.

Whether your family is settling into an A/B schedule, or an online schedule, I hope that this week is just the start of a wonderful school year for your students. Thank you for your continued patience, flexibility, and grace as we move forward in our Back Together 304 plan.

I wish you all a restful and peaceful Labor Day weekend. We look forward to resuming class next Tuesday!

Sincerely,

Dr. Kent Mutchler

Superintendent of Schools
