RECOGNITION, AWARDS, PRESENTATIONS, PUBLIC HEARINGS
Boys Golf Team GHS Principal Tom Rogers presented the Tradition of Excellence award to the Boys Varsity Golf Team who competed in the IHSA State Finals on Friday, October 25th and 26th in Bloomington, IL. They placed 6th as a team. The team’s head coach is Mr. Eric Hatczel. He is assisted by Zach Butcher and Steve Butcher. The team includes (not listed in order of appearance): Timmy Adkins (Sr.), Brandon Burggraf (Sr.), Nolan Mayer (Sr.), Christian Novay (Sr.), Ryan O’Rourke (Sr.), Ben Clairmont (Jr.), Logan Novay (Jr.), Matt Trimble (Jr.), Nick Torrence (Jr.), Dylan Ward (Jr.), Blake Makowski (So.)
The Proposed 2024 Draft Tax Year Levy was presented by Assistant Superintendent for Business Services Todd Latham.
Board Member Jackie Forbes gave an update about the General Assembly, which is discussing any bills not yet at the Governor's desk. She discussed what happens with new bills, and the lame duck session in January.
Superintendent Dr. Andy Barrett shared the plan in case of inclement weather this winter, saying it has been shared with parents. He shared a graphic that has been helpful to explain the plan to parents. He emphasized in-person learning is the priority.
He shared some new resources for parents related to our Community Engagement goal. He talked about the GPS Parent Series. Since the beginning of the year, the District Digest email has seen an increase in clicks in the email and hundreds of clicks on the GPS resources.
Dr. Barrett also talked about the next Community Connects engagement event that was announced in the Fall newsletter that is being mailed this week.
He reported on the many fall activities occurring including in athletics, theater, Principals’ Day, Halloween, a half day/Institute Day on Friday, Nov. 1 and that all offices and schools are closed on Tuesday, Nov. 5 for Election Day.

The Board reviewed the IASB Legislative Resolutions.
WORK-STUDY TOPICS & FUTURE ACTION CONSIDERATIONS
The Board reviewed several policies to be updated. They also reviewed the GHS Proposed New and Modified Courses for 2025-26 as presented by GHS Associate Principal Doug Drexler.
One member talked about the fall concerts, they were happy to attend a high school and middle school music concert, saying it was fun to see how much work the students have progressed so far this year. They congratulated the cross-country teams and wished them luck on their next meet.
Another member said they are excited that the high school football team is doing well. Another member said they attended the Kishwaukee division meeting and took a tour of the career center and compared the offerings to what is available to our students through the Fox Valley Career Center. Also, several important topics were addressed by a panel of state senators and representatives. They added that the Technology Task Force recently met and heard updates on the capital plan and other topics.
One member thanked Assistant Superintendent for Business Services Todd Latham for the Tax Levy presentation and said they appreciated the due diligence shown. Another member talked about the middle school orchestra concert, and participating in the Finance Committee meeting.
