This week, administrative assistants from across Geneva 304 attended
an in-school workshop led by Safety & Security Coordinator Raymond Adkins. The
event featured practical tips and scenarios regarding building safety, as well
as a presentation by members of the Geneva Police Department.
Adkins joined the District this winter and has focused on staff
training as one of his top priorities. His goal is to equip all Geneva 304 employees
with the skills and knowledge they need to help contribute to the safety of our
students, staff and buildings.
“In many ways, police officers aren’t the first line of defense. You are,” Adkins commented as he addressed the group.
“I liked it. It was good information for us, and I really appreciated the opportunity to receive that education,” said Kathy Shabowski, principal’s secretary at Mill Creek Elementary School. “The police department shared stories that were very interesting, and their insight was valuable.”
Colleagues seemed to appreciate the opportunity to have two-way discussion with Adkins, she added, and they walked away with information to share with their administrators and staff.
