All GHS Juniors will take the State-Required SAT on Tuesday, April 13, 2021

On Tuesday, April 13, 2021, all Geneva High School juniors will be taking the required school-day SAT.  This exam is now a state graduation requirement and is a college entrance exam that is accepted by colleges.  There is no cost to students to participate in this SAT exam.
Freshmen, sophomores, and seniors are not in attendance on this day.  However, they may have online work to complete for their classes. Additionally, juniors may have work to complete for their classes after the test concludes late morning.
Additional details:
  • The SAT exam is a paper and pencil assessment with multiple-choice subtests in reading, writing & language, and mathematics.  This exam does NOT include the written essay section.  This is an official SAT exam that can be used for the purposes of college admission.
  • Although some juniors have already taken a Saturday SAT exam for college admission purposes, the school-day SAT is still a state graduation requirement.
  • If a student is feeling ill or exhibiting any symptoms associated with Covid, they should not come to school.  Absent students will automatically be scheduled for make-up testing in late April.
  • Juniors must be in their testing rooms by 7:40 AM, the regular start time for the school day.  All juniors must bring a signed self-certification slip with them and take it to their assigned testing room (this is the same process as a regular school day).  If students forget their slip, they should report to the contest gym lobby.
  • Approved facemasks are required the same way they are on a regular school day.
  • Testing will occur in classrooms in smaller groups than in the past to maintain appropriate distance between students.
  • Students taking this exam should bring their student ID, a calculator, and #2 pencils (not mechanical pencils).
  • Prior to testing, student room assignments will be posted around the building, including near the main entrance so students can review this as they enter.
  • Early bird classes will not meet.
  • Buses will run a normal schedule in the morning.
  • Student parking is first-come, first-served in all lots except for the main McKinley staff lot.  No parking permits are required.
  • Food and drinks are not allowed to be consumed during testing, but students may bring a snack and a water bottle for use during a break.  Cafeteria service will not be available.
  • Students will be dismissed from testing sometime around noon and will be done for the day.
  • Buses will depart GHS at approximately 12:05 PM.
  • Students testing with IEP/504 accommodations will receive a separate notification about their testing schedules and room locations.
  • Please ensure your child’s attendance by rescheduling or not scheduling appointments for this important day.
  • A good night’s rest and a hearty breakfast go a long way!
  • The SAT Student Guides are being distributed in English classes by Wednesday, April 7.  Extras are available in the Main Office and they are also online:
  • Khan Academy has partnered with the SAT to provide free SAT practice to students:
A few weeks after the exam, test results will be available online through the student’s College Board account that they set up as part of the PSAT exams taken in the fall.  The GHS Counseling & Advising Office has posted their presentation about how to set up this account and access scores:
