Important GHS Updates

October 22, 2020

Dear GHS Students and Parents/Guardians,

As we approach the end of week #8 of our school year, I would like to thank you and provide you with some important reminders. From my perspective, things are going great! While I know it’s not normal, nor perfect, I’m thrilled that we are still welcoming our in-person students each day. Thank you for your cooperation and support. Everyone is doing a great job of adhering to our protocols here at school. It appears the COVID cases we have dealt with have come from outside of school. In order to continue with in-person learning, we need healthy students to walk through the front door every day. Please make good, healthy decisions outside of school. Please wear masks when you are around other people and please observe social distance guidelines.

Some of you have asked for some more detailed information or statistics about COVID at GHS (other than the form letter we must send). Please click on the following link to access information regarding all Geneva CUSD 304 schools.  https://www.geneva304.org/COVID-Dashboard.aspx

Please see the rest of this letter for additional information.

Off-Site ½ Day Learning Days for All Students on Fridays - Beginning Friday, October 30
  • For the remainder of first semester, with the exception of Friday, October 23rd, and November 6th, each Friday will be an off-site learning day for all students. Please see the AB In-Person Learning Calendar on the GHS website. We will follow our ½ day schedule (details below).
  • Teachers will communicate with students as to whether they will have a synchronous meeting that morning during their class period or asynchronous work to do on their own. If a synchronous meeting is not scheduled for a particular class, students can use that time to communicate with their teacher via Microsoft Teams.
  • Teachers will also have office hours at the end of the half-day schedule. More details will be shared prior to next Friday regarding how to communicate with teachers during those office hours.
  • Teachers may not be accessible to students during the afternoon as they will be using that time to collaborate and plan.
