In the spirit of the Geneva 304 Vision, students in Geneva High School students focus on being collaborative & productive citizens while connecting with each other and helping their community. This week, the school's Peer Leadership Program held a donation drive and created Valentine’s Day cards for the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans. 

The purpose of the PLP is to promote peer leadership between upper-classmen and younger classmen. Krista, a senior, is co-president of the PLP and says students are welcome to join at any time during the year to connect with others. “We just want to get people together and help the community,” she said.

Ella a freshman, heard about the opportunity through her membership in the school’s Leo’s Club and wanted to help out. “I just like doing this kind of stuff; it’s fun,” she said.

About 20-25 students have participated in the PLP club this year, according to Mrs. Vargas-Herbst, one of the co-sponsors.  

The MSHV is a nonprofit agency that provides housing, supportive services, and community outreach to help homeless and at-risk veterans and their families achieve self-sufficiency, according to their website.
