Early Childhood Class Celebrates Preschool Students With Car Parade

GHS Early Childhood Car Parade

May 21, 2021

GHS students enrolled in this semester’s Early Childhood Education course held a “car parade” recently for children attending the Little Vikings Preschool to celebrate a year that exercised their adaptive, creative thinking.

The preschool has been conducted virtually this school year, and the purpose for this event was to add some celebration to last instructional kit pick-up. The GHS students and their teacher Ms. Sara Consdorf prepare the kits for the preschoolers every 2-3 weeks, which include materials that are used for virtual lessons via Microsoft Teams meetings twice per week. As part of the Early Childhood Education curriculum, GHS students lead every lesson, and every activity is hands-on, interactive, and age-appropriate, Consdorf said.

“My students this semester have been unbelievable and have worked so hard to connect with the children virtually,” she added. “They consistently blow me away with their ability to teach effectively, use positive guidance techniques, and keep the learning fun. The high-schoolers are the definition of adaptive thinkers.”

Because the high school students really wanted to see the children in person at least once this semester, they organized the parade in front of the high school so the Little Vikings families could drive by, hop out, and be greeted by their teachers with posters, bells, and balloons – from a safe distance.

About 25 GHS students have enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program this year.
