For the 10th consecutive year, the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) has awarded Geneva School District its Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for excellence in budget presentation.

To earn this award, the District submitted its?2020-21?budget for a rigorous review based on stringent criteria. The award is conferred only to school entities that have met or exceeded the Meritorious Budget Award criteria.

“This is a significant achievement for Geneva 304 that demonstrates the excellent work of Assistant Superintendent for Business Services Dr. Dean Romano and our Business Services staff,” said Superintendent Dr. Kent Mutchler. “We place great value on providing our community with a quality school budget, and this award reflects the ‘Tradition of Excellence’ for which Geneva 304 is known.”

Receipt of this award represents districts that “have access to the tools and resources they need to communicate the district’s goals and objectives clearly” and “demonstrate their commitment to upholding nationally recognized budget presentation standards,” said ASBO International Executive Director David J. Lewis.

Developed by ASBO for school districts, the MBA criteria guide school business officials toward a quality school budget presentation by enhancing the school business officials’ skills in developing, analyzing, and presenting a school system budget.
