Notice of Temporary Records Destruction for GHS Class of 2016 and Special Education Years 2015-16

GENEVA — This press release is to inform the general public about the destruction of temporary student files in two Geneva School District offices.

GHS to Destroy Temporary Records, Class of 2016
The temporary files for all students in the Geneva High School (Community Unit School District 304) Class of 2016 will be destroyed during the week of September 13, 2021.
Temporary records are maintained for five (5) years following graduation, transfer, or permanent withdrawal from a school district at which point they may be destroyed.
State law mandates that a student's record belongs to the student at age 18. Students who wish to pick up their file must do so in person and present a photo ID.  Students may also provide a parent with written permission and a photocopy of an ID for the file to be released.
Records may be picked up at Geneva High School, 416 McKinley Ave. Please contact the high school Registrar, Debbie Hanson, at (630) 463-3830 or [email protected] no later than September 10, 2021 if you are interested in picking up your records.

Geneva 304 to Destroy Special Education Records from 2015-16 School Years

Geneva Community Unit School District 304 will destroy special education records from the 2015-2016 school years of students who graduated, transferred or were dismissed from special services.

Special education records may include reports of psychological and social work evaluations, multidisciplinary planning conferences, annual reviews, copies of Individualized Education Programs and other relevant information.

If a parent or student wants those records, they should call Ronnie Griffith in the Student Services Office at (630) 463-3060 before September 10, 2021.
