From the Sports Desk

Packers vs Bears. Cubs vs Cardinals. North Carolina vs Duke.  Geneva South vs Geneva North...an epic battle and tradition like no other.  At the 8th grade boys’ A basketball game, the crowd was roaring, and Ben Ribordy was dropping 3s. In a tight game the whole way, Grant Fischer hit a big 3 late and the boys gritted out a huge victory to defeat North by 4 points.

Unfortunately, the result in the B game wasn't the same as the result in the A game.  The effort was there though.  Jack "Shaq" Fels knocked down a big three in the first half but North's height and hot shooting just made them 3 points better than South yesterday.

If you weren’t at last nights’ 7th grade A basketball game against North you missed a thriller! With the South Vikings down 3 with 2 seconds left, Anish Buddaraju hit a 3-pointer sending the game into overtime. Mac Moore started overtime with a quick two, but the South Vikings were not able to overcome the late game fouls and came up short in overtime. The South Vikings were led by Anish Buddaraju’s 14 points and Finn Weppner’s 10 points. The A South Vikings begin the Kaneland holiday tournament tonight with games at 4 and 7. Jayden Hodgdon looks to take home the championship in the 3-point shootout Saturday morning.

Also, the 7th grade B practice will end today at 4:20.
