Christmas is three months from tomorrow! And lucky for you, we have a fun and easy way to make an awesome handmade gift! It’s the Crochet Intramural. Remember, crocheting is kind of like knitting except you only use one needle. Do you have a sister that’s always cold – make her a scarf! How about making a dishcloth for that parent or grandparent who loves a clean kitchen? Do you have a family member or friend who loves winter sports? A scarf crocheted BY YOU would be a perfect gift! Once you learn how in this intramural, thank of all the handmade gifts you can make! So, pop into to the office and pick up a permission slip because they’re due soon!

Calling all writers! Writers Club is going to start on Tuesday, October 1st right after school in room 265 with Ms. Riley. All styles of writing are welcome from short stories, novels, and essays to poetry and graphic novels. There also will be plenty of opportunities to socialize and even chances to enter contests. Please see or email Ms. Riley for more details.

Do you sometimes find yourself needing extra help in math? From time to time do you have questions about math homework? Do you wish you had other opportunities to meet with a math teacher? Well, beginning this week there will be math tutoring sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays before school from 7:45-8:30 and after school from 3:30-4:20 pm. Feel free to drop in any session for as long as you need. No sign up is required.

Viking Alliance, a newly formed club at Geneva Middle School South, will have its first meeting after school on Friday, October 4th in the Reading Lounge. Viking Alliance is a student-led club for anyone who would like to do fun activities in a supportive, inclusive and nonjudgmental atmosphere. Viking Alliance is about valuing all people no matter their cultural beliefs or their sexual orientation.

If you believe in everyone’s right to be themselves, think that differences make a community stronger and enjoy lively discussion about diversity and inclusion, then this club is for you. Please see Mrs. Rolf in the Guidance Office if you have any questions.

FCA is going to have a special meeting tomorrow morning at 7:30 am. Please meet at the GMS North flagpole.

The next intramural is going to be Bowling! It’s going to start October 10th, it will last for 8 weeks and it’s only $50 to join. Also, this intramural is for both North and South students, so this is a great chance to do something fun with your friends from North! Permission slips are available in the Main Office.

Did you remember to wear you’re a sports team jersey or tee today for the 2nd day of Spirit Week? If not, you still have the rest of the week to get some points for your class by participating in Neon Day tomorrow! The brighter the better!
