Viking Alliance, a newly formed club at Geneva Middle School South, will have its first meeting after school on Friday, October 4th in the Reading Lounge. Viking Alliance is a student-led club for anyone who would like to do fun activities in a supportive, inclusive and nonjudgmental atmosphere. Viking Alliance is about valuing all people no matter their cultural beliefs or their sexual orientation.

If you believe in everyone’s right to be themselves, think that differences make a community stronger and enjoy lively discussion about diversity and inclusion, then this club is for you.

Please see Mrs. Rolf in the Guidance Office if you have any questions.

Do you hear sleigh bells? Christmas is only about three months away. And do you know what would be an awesome gift for your mom, dad, grandma or your favorite uncle? A scarf or washcloth that YOU crocheted in the Crochet Intramural! Adults LOVE homemade stuff from our kids! So, pop into to the office and pick up a permission slip soon!

Viking Gamer Club will be starting this month.  The first meeting will be held on Monday, September 23rd after school in the Old Up Lab from 3:30-5:30.  Students need to get a "Club Sign-Up Sheet" from the main office in order to participate.  The "sign-up" sheet is due this Friday, September 20th in order to participate in the first session.  Please see Mr. Rhea if you have any questions.

Social Studies Club kicks off its first meeting with another Amazing Race!  Compete against teams to solve some of history's mysteries.  The fastest, most clever participants will take the prize.  The first meeting of Social Studies Club will be next Monday, September 23rd until 4:25 in Mr. Fader's room in the 8W team center.  Be there to start the Amazing Race!

FCA, don’t forget your first meeting of the school year is tomorrow morning at 7:30 in Ms. Beyer’s room 223.

This Friday is our first Clean Sweep of the school year. We all know it doesn’t take long for those lockers to get messy, so plan to get here a little early on Friday to clean up that locker!

From the Sports Desk

Last night, 7th Grade Volleyball came out strong against Yorkville. After losing their first game, the “A” team came back and dominated in the second and third. Strong performances by Brice Berndt and Caitlin Cassidy helped lead the team to victory! The “B” team lost last night but put up a good fight. Callie Zibble and Aly Olson led their team with strong passes.

The boys’ cross-country team placed third out of 18 teams at the Marmion Invite yesterday in both the 5th/6th grade race and the 7th/8th grade race. In the 6th grade race Henry Boraca finished 3rd out of nearly 200 runners and Josh Frieders had his best run of the season placing 14th. In the 7th and 8th grade race featuring close to 300 runners, Dom Stolarik took 3rd, Wyatt Gross 4th and both Grant Fischer and Lorcan Duffy made it into the top 25 of the race. The team will run again this Saturday at the Troy Invite.

The girls had a great day to run yesterday at the Marmion invitational race. The 7/8th grade girls team placed 5th overall. Great runs were had by Gretchen Drexler, Madison Stinger and Ella Chandaria. Great race girls!
