School Board Earns IASB Governance Recognition Designation
Geneva 304 School Board MembersPosted: 9/10/2013
The Geneva School District Board of Education is one of only 10 to earn the IASB’s 2013 School Board Governance Recognition designation.

According to the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB), the School Board Governance Recognition is designed to acknowledge those school boards that have engaged in activities and modeled behaviors that lead to excellence in local school governance in support of quality public education.

“As evidenced by your application, the Geneva CUSD 304 board of education has worked hard to do that,” according to a letter from IASB Executive Director Roger Eddy.

“This is such an outstanding board! The level of commitment and professionalism of the members of this team is high, and we work very well together,” said Board Vice President Kelly Nowak. “We are all focused on ensuring an excellent educational experience, and demonstrating responsible stewardship of our resources. To that end, the members of the board have regularly participated in the many educational and networking opportunities provided by the IASB. It is an honor to be recognized for our efforts.”

The IASB 2013 School Board Governance Recognition will be formally presented to Geneva’s Board of Education in October and will be included in a display during a state-wide conference in November.

“Our Board genuinely cares about our students and District and works hard as a team to support them,” said Superintendent Dr. Kent Mutchler. “Being a school board member takes a great deal of caring and volunteer time. The board development offered by IASB makes for better informed board members. This award reflects that hard work and caring.”
