Geneva and Batavia High Schools “Competing for a Cause” at Geneva vs. Batavia Football Game on Fri., Sept. 29
Geneva Competing for a Cause T-shirts are on sale this weekOn Friday, September 29, Batavia High School and Geneva High School football fans will not only be meeting up at Geneva High School for the 99th annual crosstown classic game, but will also be wearing competing T-shirts.

Both high schools’ cheering sections, “The Dog Pound” and “The Blue Crue” will be selling Batavia vs. Geneva “Competing for a Cause” T-shirts starting the week of Sept. 18 to benefit Ava Warriors, CHIP IN Batavia, and Bulldogs Unleashed.

Each limited-edition T-shirt is $15 and available in small, medium, large, and extra large sizes. All proceeds from T-shirt sales will be donated to Ava Warriors, CHIP IN Batavia, and Bulldogs Unleashed.

“This is the one time you will see a Bulldog and a Viking on a shirt together,” said Batavia High School varsity football coach, Dennis Piron. “All kidding aside, we are really excited about this partnership with Geneva High School to help outstanding organizations. We are, of course, turning this into a friendly competition to see which school can raise the most funds. A team from Batavia High School’s INCubator Entrepreneurship program is leading the sales and marketing campaign at BHS, so the Battlin’ Bulldogs are fired up. It’s going to be a tough competition!”

The school that raises the most money for its chosen charities will get a trophy. This trophy will be kept at that school until the annual fundraiser the next year, when it will, again, be given to the school that raises the most money that year.

Geneva Athletic Director Dave Carli says, “While there certainly is passionate competition between Geneva and Batavia, this partnership is an opportunity for our two schools and communities to channel that energy into a very positive cause. Of course, this fundraiser won’t diminish the desire to win on the field, but it’s important to act as leaders for our communities and unite to help others in need.”
