First Day of School Information

School Starts Wednesday, August 17, 2022!

It’s hard to believe, but the 2022-23 school year is only two weeks away! We have been busy getting ready for our students to return and we can’t wait to see their smiling faces. In order for everything to go as smoothly as possible on the first day, here are a few notes for Wednesday, August 17, 2022

Regular bus service will be provided to and from school.  If your child is a bus rider, you are welcome to follow your child’s bus to school and meet him/her at the bus before proceeding to the back playground (the playground is located on the north side of the building). Questions regarding bus route information should be directed to the District Transportation Department (630-463-3004).  For parents that are driving, please park in either the front parking lot or west parking lot (no parking in the front turnaround lot or at Greenfields).

When you arrive at school, proceed to the playground and look for the teachers holding up grade level color coded signs (teachers will be out on the playground by 7:40 am to meet students and parents).  This is an excellent chance to get that “First Day of School” photo and to say hello to your child’s teacher. Students will line-up by classroom and enter the building when the first bell rings at 7:50 am. We ask that parents do not enter the building with your child.

If you feel that your child may have trouble separating and need extra support please call us in the office at 630-463-3400 so that we can alert the teacher. In case of inclement weather, the school will send out a communication with alternate plans.

Wednesday, August 17th is a full day of school for all grades, Kindergarten through Fifth with dismissal at 2:15 pm.  The Sodexho/Mealtime Lunch program will be available for grades 1st-5th (Kindergarten is asked to bring a cold sack lunch). The August menu will be posted on the District website before the start of school. Remember that no cash is used for lunchroom purchases. Please be sure that your student’s Push Coin account is funded.

When the day is over, your student will have many wonderful things to share with you. The entire staff of Mill Creek School is dedicated to fostering a love of learning in your child as they continue on their journey. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us at 630-463-3400.

More detailed arrival and dismissal procedures will be outlined in an email by Mr. Petmezas sometime early next week.
