After battling mother nature for most of the month of April, the Geneva South track team finally squared off against human opponents, hosting Washington Middle School and Jefferson Middle School in the first meet of the season.

For the 8th grade girls, Gretchen Drexler took 1st place in the 800 meters, Amelia Furhman won the 400 meters and Isabella Sida won both the discus and shot put.

For the 7th grade girls, Alyssa Flotte took first in the hurdles and Tara Manafi won both shot put and discus.

8th Grade boys were led by strong performances by Lukas Costello and Aidan Falkos who took 1st and 3rd in the shot put. Chris Davis dominated the 400 meters and Jackson Fuhrman, a last-minute volunteer to run the 1600 meters, led all 8th grade boys.

The 7th grade track team was able to get off to a great start against two Aurora teams at yesterday's meet.  The Vikings swept the 7th grade jumping events and many of the sprint and long distance events as well.  No records were set, but Bennentt Konkey is close to the 100 record which has been up since 1987 and the 4x400 team is within striking distance of that record as well.
