Karoline Anthony, Jesse Balc, Michael Curshallas, Claire Jennings, Alex Kellick, Brock Mason, Adeline Meyers, Bennett Nippert, Jenna Sowinski, Ved Vyas, Josh Watson, and Ethan Zibble have been named National Merit Commended Students. About 1.5 million juniors entered the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2021 PSAT test, which served as an initial screening of program entrants.
"We are so proud of these students," said Principal Rogers. "They truly embody the 'Tradition of Excellence' that we instill in our school and throughout the District."
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2023 competition by taking the PSAT.
A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, will be presented by Rogers to these students at an upcoming Board of Education meeting.
“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
