Important Message Regarding School-Issued Devices for 6th and 9th Grades
Back Together Web Device Thumbnail
July 27, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The following information only applies to students who will be entering 6th and 9th grades and were enrolled during the 2019-20 school year (as 5th- and 8th-graders). Students who are entering grades 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, or 12 will continue to use the school-issued device they received last year throughout the 2020-21 school year.

You are receiving this message because you have one or more children enrolled in 6th or 9th grades for the 2020-21 school year. In lieu of collecting these devices at the end of their 5th and 8th grade year, students and parents were informed they would retain these devices until the start of the 2020-21 school year neared and more certainty was known.

As August nears, we are working hard to ensure that every student enrolled in grades K-12 at Geneva CUSD 304 have a school-issued device assigned to them. To that end, it is critically important that we begin to collect the devices that were assigned to last year’s 5th and 8th grade students (now 6th- and 9th-graders).

Whether you are considering the In-Person Learning or Online-Only Learning options, please return your 6th- or 9th-grader’s school-issued device and power cord at the earliest opportunity. All 6th- and 9th-graders will be issued a new student device during either High School Registration or Middle School Locker Night, provided they have returned their old device.

The Technology Department will be available to safely collect these devices at the following location and dates this week (face coverings are required, please):
Where: Geneva High School – Main Entrance
When: Tuesday, July 28 through Thursday, July 30
Time: Between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – come when you are able; no pre-assigned times

These devices will be cleaned, sanitized, and prepped to be reissued to some of the youngest learners in the District. We need your help to make that a reality, and the earlier we receive the devices from last year, the better the chances we can ensure all students have a device on the first day of school.

If you have questions about the drop-off process, please contact us at [email protected] or 630-463-3097.

Thank you for your help to ensure that all students have the technology access they will need for next school year!
