We would like to thank all families for your support, patience, and cooperation with our Back Together 304 symptom screening plans. Your partnership in the Daily Symptom Screening, among all other new procedures, has allowed us to reopen our schools to families who have selected in-person learning for their students.
This daily symptom screening is a shared responsibility that remains vital to the safety of our school community, and we would like to take a moment to provide some important reminders about the process, as well as some new information provided Sept. 11 by the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Kane County Health Department.
Please remember:
All families of in-person learning students must conduct a daily symptom screening and sign the student’s form within 24 hours of that student’s on-site day. This list is from the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Kane County Health Department, and changes are highlighted in red. These symptoms remain subject to change.
- Fever or chills (100.4 F or higher without the use of fever-reducing medications)
- New onset of moderate to severe headache
- Shortness of breath
- New cough
- Sore throat
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Abdominal pain from unknown cause
- New congestion/runny nose
- New loss of taste or smell
- Nausea
- Fatigue from unknown cause
- Muscle or body aches
Keep your student home and report the absence if ANY of the following circumstances is true within 24 hours of your student’s on-site day:
- Your student is experiencing a new onset of one symptom on this list not attributed to documented allergies or a pre-existing condition; OR
- Your student is subject to an isolation or quarantine protocol related to COVID-19; OR
- Any household member is experiencing symptoms, is being evaluated by their medical provider or the health department; OR
- Any household member is awaiting results of a COVID-19 test.
“When in doubt, please stay out.” Our Certified School Nursing staff would like to remind families conducting the screening to err on the side of caution at all times and to contact your child’s school to report any student absence.
