The answer to last week’s Wheel of Fortune Puzzle in the library was BANNED BOOKS WEEK.  Congrats to the correct guessers: Marin Anderson, Cami Rechkemmer, Devon Ost, Alex Jones, Elijah Newcomb, Mr. Sempsrott, Mrs. Ray, and Miss Shanel.

There’s a new intramural coming up on Thursday, October 12th!  It’s Epic Air and permission slips are available in the main office.  Don’t miss it!

The library is kicking off Teen 'Tober with some Alan Gratz book talks at lunch today in the Library Book Nook and raffling off an Alan Gratz book during each lunch period. If you need to buy your lunch, stop by the library ahead of time for a pass. Bring your lunch and your friends.

Published author, Michael Witwer, will be at South the week after the book fair! For details on getting a signed & personalized copy of his new book, pick up a form in the library!

The next meeting of the Dungeons and Dragons club is today! Please plan to meet after school in Ms. Riley's room number 263. Bring your character sheets and dice if you have them. Hope to see you there!

Social Studies Club will meet today to finish our escape room activity. Even if you didn't attend the first meeting, you're welcome to join the fun!  We'll meet in Mr. Fader's room in the 8 White Team Center until 4:20. All are welcome!

LEOs Club-next meeting is today from 3:25-4:25 in Ms. Beyer's room #223. We will have a guest speaker from the Geneva Lions Club joining us.

From the drama desk: The sixth-grade play cast worked hard last week. Tegan "Reliable" Riach never missed an entrance or a cue. Caroline "Santa" Klaus gifted us all with her outstanding stage presence and creepy Grumplegrapeskin voice. Lilli Hungerman was our only crew member at the beginning of the week, and we let her cook. You will be able to see her amazing props and our phenomenal actors at the play in just a few weeks. Mark your calendar for October 20th and 21st at 7 pm.

Please join Ms. Mack for a “Halloween Cook-tacular” on October 24th or 26th in the FACS room. Students will only sign up for one of the dates. You will be cooking fall themed foods like pumpkin bread and spider cookies! The cost is $10 and permission slips can be picked up in the main office.

This week is Banned Book Week, and it celebrates your freedom to read. Get on the BANNED WAGON! Stop by the library and check out our display which spotlights attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. While you are there, take a guess in our contest featuring a Banned Book.

Be sure to check out the first Science Club meeting of the year! It is tomorrow at North in Mrs. Bruno's room 121. The meeting is after school until 4:25. It's gonna be a blast!

Attention Gamers: your gaming club t-shirt order form is due before the end of this week.  Remember; you can turn it into the main office or Mr. Rhea.

The Conservation Club distributed small green or blue recycling bins to each team center.  Please use these bins to recycle markers, pens, mechanical pencils, and empty glue sticks.  Due to our recycling endeavors last year, the club was able to redeem points we had earned to help fund charitable events like providing drinking water to people in need and protecting an acre of rainforest.

What do Jolly Ranchers wrappers, Blow-pop wrappers, pencil shavings, and Kleenex all have in common?  They are all items that should go in the trash, not the recycling bin.  Putting wrong things in the recycling bins means that nothing in there actually gets recycled.   The Conservation Club put signs in each classroom to promote the correct disposal of recycling and trash items.   Please use these to dispose of waste properly.
