From the Sports Desk:
The weather held up and so did the Geneva South track team as there were
stellar performances all around the track last night. The 8th grade girls led the charge as Kayla
Eichstaedt took first place in the mile while Abby McMillen cruised to a smooth
victory in the 100-meter dash. For the
7th grade girls, Emily Potosnak did a phenomenal job in the high jump, and
Brooke Lussnig was her normal speedy self in the 100 meters. On the boys’ side of the track, Calvin Kautz and Anthony Graske dominated the 400 meters, taking two of the top three spots. For the 7th grade boys, Alex
Fitzgerald, Matt Styrna, Logan Weber, and Sam Esparza all ran excellent legs of
the 4 by 200 as their team took home the first-place medal. And finally, varsity standout Andrea Turek made
a special guest appearance last night with a fantastic double. Turek jumped an incredible 45 feet in the
triple jump and then capped her night off by jumping 10 feet in the high jump.
