Read Across America Week is next week, March
4th-8th. Stay tuned for information on
fun ways to celebrate with us in the library and earn raffle tickets for drawings
that will take place on the 8th.
To celebrate the first day of Read Across
America Week, Monday is going to be a pajama day. So, roll out of bed and wear
your pjs to school! Bring a book to read
for our Lounge & Read Day.
Ready
for a dog-gone good time? Read A Dog’s
Purpose, or another dog-book, and join the GMSS book club on Tuesday 3/5. We’ll
have pizza and make treats for dogs and cats. See Mrs. Fedor or Mrs. Hollis for
details.
Also, next Tuesday,
March 5th you can join Student Council in the sewing room after school until
4:25 to make toys and beds for the animals at Anderson Animal Shelter. All are
welcome to come help!
Don’t
forget that Leo’s Club and Student Council are sponsoring a collection drive
for Anderson Animal Shelter. There are
sooooo many things you can donate that will help the shelter. Anything from paper
towels or shredded newspaper to pet store gift cards are helpful, but a full
list can be found around the school and on the video announcements. You can bring your donations to the Main
Office. Homeless pets need our help too!
Attention 7th and 8th graders, the
7th and 8th grade dance is coming up on March 15th from 6:30-8. Why not stay
after school and go bowling with your friends! If you’re interested in coming
bowling before the dance, pick up a permission slip from the main office. It’s
only $7 per student!
Next week is Spirit
Week!!! Monday is PJ day, Tuesday is Neon
day, Wednesday is Wacky Wednesday (wear your craziest outfit), Thursday is College
Wear Day and Friday is Geneva Spirit day.
6th and 7th
graders: if you have not already turned in your elective form for next year be
sure to bring it tomorrow!
From the Sports Desk:
With Air Gates and Air Thill scouting in the
stands, plus a rowdy crowd, the 7th grade girls A team stormed out of the
"gates" and never looked back.
The sharpshooter Lexi Meier was tough once again, Ivy Black was clutch
on the boards and hit a bucket, while Evyn Schokora posted a monster game
tallying 17 points. Excellent team win!
The 7th Grade Girls Basketball B team played hard
last night verse Kaneland. Haley Hart lived up to her last name, yes Hart
fought for every ball. Angelina Zimmer hustled on both ends of the court,
really helping out up top on each possession. The girls were able to break the
press as a team and work the ball inside, but ultimately just fell short.
