GMS North Dedicates Library in Mrs. Kimball's Honor

June 5, 2019

Mrs. Gigi Kimball’s legacy shall live on in what her husband referred to as her “one big classroom” this week, as Geneva Middle School North dedicated the school’s library in her honor.

LMC Director Mrs. Kimball passed away this March after teaching in Geneva 304 for 28 years and touching the lives of countless students and staff members.

Geneva 304 employees, friends and family members attended the dedication ceremony, in which Principal Larry Bidlack and Mr. Dave Kimball — who also is a longtime teacher in Geneva Middle Schools — shared some beloved memories about Mrs. Kimball and hung a brass-plated plaque on a library pillar that states:

“Gigi Kimball created and continued to develop the library at Geneva Middle School North into a warm, welcoming and engaging place for all students and staff to learn and grow. Her love for students, learning and life touched everyone she shared a moment with every day. Gigi’s vision for our library is centered on ensuring all students and staff have the resources they need to foster their passion for learning.”

In thanking everyone for attending the event, Mr. Kimball remarked: “I look forward into walking to school each morning being greeted by her image at the entrance of this library, being reminded of her legacy — her gift that she’s given me, and to all who knew her — and how I’ll work each day to make her as proud of me as I have been to be her husband.”

The Geneva Library Foundation has started the Gigi Kimball New Library Memorial Fund, which will honor her in the new Geneva Public Library, according to their website. For more information, please click here.
