Oct. 13, 2020

Anticipating a shortage of election judges, Public Act 101-0642 makes several changes to state law aimed at encouraging students to serve in the role of election judge. In addition to specifically mandating that Election Day will be a school holiday, the law provides that election judges may be as young as 16 if they are otherwise qualified. Schools districts are being asked to notify students about the opportunity to serve as an election judge, as well as the qualifications for serving.

For a list of qualifications to serve as an election judge in Kane County, please visit the Kane County Clerk’s Website at https://www.kanecountyclerk.org/Elections/Pages/Election-Judges.aspx

The Kane County Clerk’s Office collaborates with Geneva High School to facilitate the election judge application process for students. If students are interested in applying to serve as an election judge in Kane County, please reach out to Mr. Matt Hahn at Geneva High School at [email protected].
