Important K-12 Food Service Update: All Students Eligible to Receive Free Meals Until Dec. 31
K-12 Food Service Update
Sept. 30, 2020

The Illinois State Board of Education recently announce that the Federal Summer Food Service Program has been extended through Dec. 31, 2020. Under this program, ALL Geneva 304 students are eligible to receive free meals from the school district. This program, which is supported through the federal government, is designed to support families during the ongoing pandemic.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 5 and while this program is in effect (until Dec. 31), any student receiving a meal will NOT have their account charged. Additionally, any PushCoin account that was charged for meals between Aug. 31 and Oct. 2 will be credited for meals that meet the program requirements. There is no need for you to request a credit; the Business Services team will do this automatically in the coming weeks.

Because the SFSP is a temporary program, the District will continue to accept applications for free meals and fee waivers throughout the year. For more information on the application process, please contact the Business Office at 630-463-3030.

Please read the important details below, which explain how the meal program will work for students at each grade level for both Online-Only Learning and In-Person Learning, from now until Dec. 31, 2020.

Online-Only Students (All K-12 Grade Levels)

ALL Online-Only Learning students will now be able to participate in a “Curbside Meal Service” and pick up meals (5 breakfasts and 5 lunches) for the week. There is no need to order meals in advance for the Curbside Meal Service. Staff will have a supply of meals on hand according to the details below.

Weekly Curbside Meal Service Details:
  • When: Every Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Where: Geneva High School in the Bus Lane on the corner of McKinley and Center Street.
  • Notes: If the weather is inclement, the pickup will be relocated inside the door leading to the GHS Gymnasium. When a holiday falls on a Monday, the service will move to Tuesday that week at the same time. Please wear a mask when picking up meals; food service staff will be practicing health & safety guidelines as well.

In-Person A/B Schedule Elementary Students

ALL In-Person elementary students will continue to receive lunch services during their on-site days as they have since the start of the school year. Each morning during an on-site day, students will log into the Lunch Request Form and make their lunch and drink selection. However, all students will have their meal recorded within PushCoin at a price of zero dollars.

The option for a second entree or an a la carte item may be available to elementary students for purchase at lunchtime. If students choose a second entree or an a la carte item in person, the food service employee will note the charge and the student's account would be charged in PushCoin.

Additionally, ALL In-Person elementary students will be able to participate in a “Curbside Meal Service" and receive 2 or 3 lunches per week (curbside lunches are equal to the number of days they are off-site that week based on their A/B schedule), as well as 5 breakfasts per week.

In-Person A/B Schedule Secondary Students

ALL In-Person secondary students (middle/high school) will continue to receive lunch services during their on-site days, but they will no longer be required to make a meal or drink selection through the Lunch Request Form. All students will be able to pick up a meal and a drink at one of the meal stations provided. A meal record will no longer be available in PushCoin as a result.
