Sept. 14, 2021

Geneva Community Unit School District 304 has received three communications awards for projects that feature student achievements, including two Awards of Excellence, from the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (INSPRA).

The district was recognized this month during the professional organization’s annual Communications Contest Awards. More than 158 entries were judged by professional school communicators from across the country. Each entry was evaluated by three judges against a rubric of excellence, with awards given to those that scored within the established ranges for merit and excellence.

“We are thankful to be recognized for these stories, which showcase the journeys of our students, families, and staff who faced unique challenges over the past year and how they navigated those situations by harnessing the skills that we celebrate in our District Vision,” Superintendent Dr. Kent Mutchler said.

The three recognized stories include:
INSPRA Communications Contest Logo“We are proud to recognize the winners of the 2021 Communications Contest, who have gone above and beyond to ensure effective communications in the midst of a worldwide pandemic,” INSPRA President Alex Mayster said. “The roles of school communicators have been magnified since the onset of COVID-19, and our contest winners have continued to move forward and, at times, reimagine the way communication looks to ensure their school communities are well-informed. I am so proud of the award-winning work created by our outstanding school communicators across the state of Illinois.”

The mission of INSPRA is to strengthen support for Illinois public schools and improve education for students through responsible public relations. A complete list of winners can be found at www.Inspra.org.
